Bedroom makeover

After watching House of Bryan "In the sticks" (not sure if that is the exact name) house reveal my son really loved one of the kids room which had a timber wall.
In Australia I found it extremely hard to find nice wide pieces of reclaimed/barn looking timber that didn't cost a fortune so we looked around at other cost effective alternatives.

This is Evans room before, room was quite plain looking the wall behind the bed was a  little damaged the dry wall was cracked at the joints which seemed to be a fun activity for him to pick at night time.
We found this vinyl floor at the local hardware store which looked really nice, its a self adhesive product just cut and peel and stick! simple !
The colour we brought was rustic and it looks just like old barn boards I was very impressed and even more impressed with the price..... including little rustic wall tacks the total came to around $250
My husband did have his doubts about it sticking so he used a super heavy duty adhesive spray which he sprayed on let it tack up and then stuck the vinyl which lucky we did because there was a little bit he missed and the vinyl did start to come away.
After all the vinyl was put up we nailed in little rustic bronze tacks where the wall studs are just to make sure they stayed up but also gives it a realistic look.
Because his room isn't very wide we ended up making his desk out of his old bed (which was falling apart anyway) so we ended up using the steps as the sides, cut down the length and width of the desk and it turned out really nice and fits the space perfectly.
This cute lamp was an old lamp I had which had an old plastic fabric covered shade on it which was cracked so I make a cover with some fabric I had at home which is a Blake Riley fabric 1 inch stripe.

He loves Deer and stag heads and he wanted to put one above his bed. I found this one at Typo on sale for $10! Bargain!

All finished.
Make over on a budget!
